English Translation from Al-Jazeera Live:
Dr Tarek Al-Suwaidan- a well-known islamic thinker said in an interview aired on Al-Jazeera Mubasher Misr Channel:
- How much is Mubarak's fortune? Egypt- what became of Egypt? Its universities?? Egyptian Universities which were one day one of the ancient universities worldwide ranks 91st today among 130!! Egypt's fotrune goes to only certain people leaving the rest of the people hungry.
- The military only thinks through rifle and tanks; military rule turns a prosperous nation in a backward one, and if it ever developed that will be in the military only!
-Hamas is the Muslim Nation's dignity, pride and honour. How come the Egyptian Army lay siege to Gaza??
- The whole nation should support the resistence in Palestine, or else it would have given up jihad.
-People may be unaware for some time, but not all the time.
-Arab liberals are agianst democarcy that brings Islamists to rule. They turn, then, into dictators who encourage oppression against the islamic sect.
-Media and some Sheikhs played a big role in twisting facts and offending revolutionists. How come we call those who are defending their vote by rebels or "khawarij"?
- An intimate friendship developed between me and Prince Walid Bin-Talal. I have been neutral while running Al-Resala Channel, and I don't regret working there.
- It's not about Morsi or whoever rules. Even if Hamdein ruled it'd be okay. We oppose military rule and that's all
- The "Islam fits wherever and whenever" notion was first stated by Imam Hassan Al-Banna- founder of the Muslim Brotherhood.
- There are several attempts to make islamists reject the idea of ballots and be engaged into violence.
- I swear before Allah that I am innocent of what the Kuwaiti Government did- financing the military coup through us: taxpayers - in Egypt.
- The Kuwaiti people are brought up to be free and are open-minded people, so every one has his own beliefs concerning the coup in Egypt.
Translator G. A. Sajid's note:
"Khawarij" in Islam refers to the group of people who turn rebellious against the Imam-the one who rules his people.
